On the Road Again

We had a nice day with my Mum and Dad, one of my sisters and my nephew, for my Dads' birthday today. We had a roast lunch and cake, the party didn't get too wild, LOL.
At least it's stopped raining for a bit so we could get out of the house. I do love it when it rains but I've just spent two full days housebound with the kids, and lots and lots of washing. In fact, it's 11pm and my washing machine and dryer are still going.
Have spent the evening getting sorted for our little road trip, just thought I'd make a quick post before I hit the sack.
-Bags are packed and in the car. Will probably have to go down to the car in the morning and ferret stuff out, or add to the bags, I guess.
-Lunch boxes are packed and waiting to go in to the esky in the morning.
-I am armed to the eyeballs with snacks for the kids (as usual). I'm a tuckshop on wheels, most days :)
-Car is fueled up ($95!!! and that won't even get us there)
-Car emptied of week old snack remnants and other crustys', vacuumed. Ready for more crustys to be hidden. The current favourite for the kids is squashed up strawberries, mashed into the upholstery.
-Camera battery charged.
-Mobile phone charged.
Only about 900km between us and our destination.
Hopefully we can avoid all the fools on the road.
Just got to write my last-minute-things list.

So that's see ya later from me and Clary. Ruby's standing by her No-Pictures Policy.

Start early

You gotta start when they're young. Watch them, see what they like, what they're good at, and foster those natural talents. Ha ha.

My little fella loves all things domestic. Adores the vacuum cleaner. He's all over it when I'm vacuuming. Always trying to help. Which can slow things down sometimes. How cute is he. Yes he has pink socks on. You get kind of girly hand me downs when your only sibling is a big sister.

So after going on about me not scrapping blah, blah, blah, I actually did do a couple of pages last week. Just that they were so crap, found it really hard to get back into it, I wasn't going to show them. But I thought I'd show this one just to prove that I did slip one of those cupcake papers on to a page :)

And I made this, which I actually do like, for my sister-in-law who is pregnant with her first baby. I hope she likes it.

I used an old magazine page with a vintage transfer thingy, some Thickers and a quick wizz around the edge with the sewing machine. I wanted to keep it myself.

OK, better get back to work. Getting sorted for our road trip on the weekend. It is my Dads' birthday tomorrow so we will be heading over there for the day.

Dweeb

Grey skivvy. Or turtleneck for those of you who think a skivvy is underwear.
Taking pictures of self on the side of the road while kids asleep in car.
I don't think I need to go on.

Dork.

Random

OK. Bare with me, this will be all over the place and I have absolutely nothing of interest to say.

Obviously it was my lucky day with this laptop as I got it back with everything intact. I didn't think that was going to happen at all. Very, very happy. Very.

So the blog that was supposed to be a crafty blog has become a nothing blog. I haven't even been trying to make time to craft lately as I have been spending every spare minute I have taking pictures and trying to figure out Photoshop. Don't know what else to say on that one, except sewing and scrapping are definitely on the back burner, indefinetly. I would like to be able to do it all, I love it all, but I can't concentrate on three things at once. Hell, I can't even concentrate on one thing at once, most days.

Of course, my fourth hobby, op shopping, takes a back seat to nothing. It's just who I am man. PMSL.

I feel like I am always packing our car up and heading off somewhere lately, just want to be at home for a while. Not happening just yet as this weekend I am driving up to Mackay with the kids for a few days, to visit my partner while he's away for work. Not really looking forward to the trip, I have to say. If I was doing it alone it would probably take me around 9 hours. But I'm doing it with the kids so I'd say, at least 11 hours. Can't wait.
I took this picture coming home this afternoon. It was really too late for either of them to be sleeping, but sometimes you just don't care what time it is, it's just bliss to have the sweet sound of no-more-whinging.

Have had a couple of visits over to my sisters' lately. They have a bit of space around them, with cows in the paddock next to the house (not their cows)
I'm not a horsey person, more of a cow person.
How could you not like this.

Just a couple of random pictures.
Afternoon winter sun.

Again, at my sisters. So nice and relaxing there.

Back soon. Will try and post again before I head off on the weekend. If anyone's still out there, that is.
cheers

Community Service Announcement

Back up your files people.

DO IT NOW.

At the very least have it done by the time you go to bed tomorrow.

Old computers die.
New computers die.
'Reliable' computers die.
Just thinking/talking about backing up ain't going to be good enough when smoke starts streaming out the back of your laptop.

Trust me.

I haven't had it confirmed that I've lost everything. But the smoke that came out isn't making me feel to hopeful.

I've been without my beloved laptop for one week, stealing a few minutes on my sisters computer at the moment.

Hopefully I'll be back soon.

At least it was still covered by warranty.
